Description
HDAC11 (Histone Deacetylase 11) is a protein-coding gene that encodes a class IV histone deacetylase. It catalyzes the removal of acetyl groups from lysine residues of histone and non-histone proteins, playing a critical role in transcriptional regulation, cell cycle progression, and immune function. HDAC11 is the smallest member of the HDAC family and is predominantly localized in the nucleus.

Protein Summary
HDAC11 is a 347-amino acid class IV histone deacetylase that removes acetyl groups from histones H3 and H4, as well as non-histone substrates. It is involved in transcriptional repression, immune response modulation, and cell cycle control. HDAC11 is highly expressed in testis and kidney, and its dysregulation is linked to cancer and immune disorders.
