What is Protein Sorting & Targeting ?
Protein sorting ensures that newly synthesized proteins are delivered to their correct subcellular destinations. This involves N-terminal signal sequences, translocons (Sec61, TOM/TIM complexes) and vesicular trafficking. Mislocalization of proteins causes diseases including Alzheimer's, cystic fibrosis and mitochondrial disorders.
