What is Inflammasome & Pyroptosis ?
Inflammasomes are multiprotein complexes (e.g., NLRP3, AIM2) that activate caspase-1, leading to maturation of IL-1β/IL-18 and pyroptosis—a lytic, inflammatory cell death mediated by gasdermin D pore formation. Aberrant inflammasome activation drives autoinflammatory diseases, neurodegenerative disorders and sepsis.
