Description

ZNF133 encodes a zinc finger protein of the Krüppel-associated box (KRAB) family. The protein contains a KRAB domain at the N-terminus and multiple C2H2-type zinc finger motifs, functioning as a transcriptional repressor through recruitment of chromatin-modifying complexes. It is involved in regulation of gene expression during development and cellular differentiation.

Protein Summary

ZNF133 is a 544-amino acid protein with a KRAB domain (residues 1-75) and 12 C2H2-type zinc finger domains. It localizes to the nucleus and acts as a transcriptional repressor. The KRAB domain mediates interaction with KAP1/TRIM28, recruiting histone deacetylases and methyltransferases to silence target genes. Expression is enriched in testis and several other tissues.
