Description

YES1 (YES proto-oncogene 1) encodes a member of the Src family of non-receptor tyrosine kinases. The protein is involved in cell growth, survival, migration, and differentiation through phosphorylation of downstream signaling molecules. Overexpression and activating mutations are associated with various cancers, including colorectal, lung, and breast cancer.

Protein Summary

YES1 is a 543-amino acid protein (UniProt P07947) with an N-terminal SH4 domain for membrane localization, SH3 and SH2 domains for protein-protein interactions, and a C-terminal tyrosine kinase domain. It is activated by autophosphorylation at Tyr426 and negatively regulated by phosphorylation at Tyr537 by CSK. YES1 transduces signals from growth factor receptors, integrins, and immune receptors, regulating cell adhesion, migration, and proliferation.
