Description

VIPR1 encodes the vasoactive intestinal peptide receptor 1, a class B G protein-coupled receptor that binds vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) and pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide (PACAP). Activation of VIPR1 stimulates adenylate cyclase, increasing intracellular cAMP levels, and mediates diverse physiological processes including smooth muscle relaxation, exocrine and endocrine secretion, immune modulation, and circadian rhythm regulation.
