Description
UBE2D1 encodes a member of the E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme family. This enzyme catalyzes the second step in ubiquitin conjugation, accepting ubiquitin from the E1 complex and transferring it to target proteins via E3 ligases. UBE2D1 is involved in diverse cellular processes including cell cycle control, DNA repair, and signal transduction. It is broadly expressed in many tissues and is implicated in cancer and neurodegenerative diseases.

Protein Summary
UBE2D1 is a 147-amino acid protein (17 kDa) that belongs to the ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme E2 family. It contains a conserved UBC domain responsible for ubiquitin thioester formation. The protein interacts with multiple E3 ligases and is essential for ubiquitin chain elongation. It is highly conserved across species and plays a key role in maintaining protein homeostasis.
