Description
TRIM55, also known as MURF-2, encodes a member of the tripartite motif (TRIM) family. The protein contains a RING finger domain, a B-box, and a coiled-coil region. It is predominantly expressed in cardiac and skeletal muscle, where it localizes to the sarcomere and plays a role in myogenesis, sarcomere assembly, and muscle protein turnover. TRIM55 interacts with titin and other sarcomeric proteins, and its expression is regulated during muscle differentiation.
