Description
TRAF6 (TNF receptor associated factor 6) is a member of the TRAF family of proteins that functions as a signal transducer for members of the TNF receptor superfamily and the interleukin-1 receptor/Toll-like receptor (IL-1R/TLR) superfamily. It mediates activation of NF-kB and MAP kinases, playing a critical role in innate and adaptive immunity, inflammation, and bone metabolism. TRAF6 possesses E3 ubiquitin ligase activity and is involved in the ubiquitination of target proteins to propagate signaling cascades.
