Description
TAF11 encodes a subunit of the transcription factor IID (TFIID) complex, which is essential for RNA polymerase II-mediated transcription initiation. TAF11 directly interacts with TATA-box binding protein (TBP) and other TAFs to form the core TFIID complex, facilitating promoter recognition and transcription pre-initiation complex assembly. The gene is located on chromosome 6p21.31 and is ubiquitously expressed.
