Description

SLPI encodes a secreted serine protease inhibitor that protects epithelial tissues from proteolytic damage during inflammation. It inhibits neutrophil elastase, cathepsin G, and trypsin, and also exhibits antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and wound-healing properties.
