Description

SERPINB2 (Serpin Family B Member 2) encodes plasminogen activator inhibitor type 2 (PAI-2), a member of the serpin family of serine protease inhibitors. PAI-2 inhibits urokinase-type plasminogen activator (uPA) and tissue-type plasminogen activator (tPA), regulating fibrinolysis and extracellular matrix remodeling. It is primarily expressed in placenta, keratinocytes, and monocytes/macrophages, and is induced during inflammation and pregnancy.
