Description

SDC2 encodes syndecan 2, a transmembrane heparan sulfate proteoglycan that functions as a coreceptor for growth factors, cytokines, and extracellular matrix components. It plays critical roles in cell adhesion, migration, cytoskeletal organization, and angiogenesis. SDC2 is frequently overexpressed in colorectal cancer and is used as a DNA methylation biomarker for early detection.
