Description

RGS13 (Regulator of G Protein Signaling 13) is a member of the regulator of G protein signaling (RGS) family. It acts as a GTPase-activating protein (GAP) for Gα subunits of heterotrimeric G proteins, accelerating the termination of G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) signaling. RGS13 is predominantly expressed in lymphoid tissues, particularly in germinal center B cells, and plays a role in immune cell activation, migration, and differentiation. It has been implicated in allergic inflammation, autoimmune diseases, and certain cancers.

Protein Summary

RGS13 is a 159-amino acid protein containing a conserved RGS domain that mediates its GAP activity. It accelerates the hydrolysis of GTP bound to Gαi and Gαq subunits, thereby terminating GPCR signaling. RGS13 is highly expressed in germinal center B cells and modulates chemokine receptor signaling, affecting B cell migration and antibody production.
