Description

PTGDR2 (Prostaglandin D2 Receptor 2), also known as CRTH2 (chemoattractant receptor-homologous molecule expressed on Th2 cells), is a G protein-coupled receptor that binds prostaglandin D2 (PGD2). It is primarily expressed on Th2 lymphocytes, eosinophils, basophils, and mast cells, and mediates chemotaxis and activation of these cells in allergic inflammation. The receptor couples to Gi-type G proteins, leading to intracellular calcium mobilization and cell migration.

Protein Summary

The PTGDR2 protein (UniProt Q9Y5Y4) is a 398-amino acid G protein-coupled receptor with seven transmembrane domains. It is expressed on Th2 cells, eosinophils, basophils, and mast cells. Upon binding prostaglandin D2, it activates Gi-type G proteins, leading to calcium mobilization, chemotaxis, and cytokine release. It plays a central role in allergic inflammation and is a therapeutic target for asthma and allergic rhinitis.
