It contains a short cytoplasmic N-terminal domain, a transmembrane helix, a LDL receptor class A domain, a scavenger receptor cysteine-rich domain, and a C-terminal serine protease domain with the catalytic triad His-Asp-Ser. The protein is synthesized as a zymogen and activated by proteolytic cleavage. It is localized to the plasma membrane and can be shed into the extracellular space. Its proteolytic activity targets extracellular matrix components and may activate signaling cascades involved in cell migration and invasion.
