Description
PPP3R2 encodes the beta regulatory subunit of calcineurin (protein phosphatase 3), a calcium/calmodulin-dependent serine/threonine phosphatase. This subunit binds calcium and modulates the catalytic activity of the calcineurin A subunit. Calcineurin is involved in T-cell activation, cardiac hypertrophy, and neuronal signaling.

Protein Summary
PPP3R2 (calcineurin B beta) is a 170-amino acid regulatory subunit that binds four calcium ions and associates with the catalytic A subunit to form the active calcineurin heterodimer. It is essential for calcineurin phosphatase activity and downstream signaling, including NFAT dephosphorylation and nuclear translocation.
