Description
ORM2 (orosomucoid 2) encodes a member of the lipocalin family, orosomucoid 2 (also known as alpha-1-acid glycoprotein 2, AGP2). This protein is a major acute-phase plasma glycoprotein synthesized primarily in the liver. It functions as a carrier protein for basic and neutral lipophilic drugs and plays roles in immunomodulation, inflammation, and maintaining capillary permeability. ORM2 is one of two highly similar orosomucoid genes (ORM1 and ORM2) located in a cluster on chromosome 9q32.
