Description
ODC1 encodes ornithine decarboxylase, the rate-limiting enzyme in the polyamine biosynthesis pathway. It catalyzes the decarboxylation of ornithine to produce putrescine, which is a precursor for spermidine and spermine. Polyamines are essential for cell growth and differentiation.
