Description

NUDT10 (nudix hydrolase 10) encodes a member of the nudix hydrolase family. The protein specifically hydrolyzes diphosphoinositol polyphosphates, such as diphosphoinositol pentakisphosphate (InsP7) and bis-diphosphoinositol tetrakisphosphate (InsP8), converting them to lower inositol phosphates. This activity regulates cellular signaling, energy metabolism, and phosphate homeostasis. NUDT10 is also known as diphosphoinositol polyphosphate phosphohydrolase 3 (DIPP3).

Protein Summary

NUDT10 encodes a 164-amino acid protein (UniProt Q8NFP7) belonging to the nudix hydrolase family. It contains a conserved nudix box motif (GX5EX7REUXEEXGU, where U is a hydrophobic residue). The enzyme catalyzes the hydrolysis of diphosphoinositol polyphosphates, removing the beta-phosphate from the diphosphate group, thereby regulating intracellular levels of InsP7 and InsP8. The protein is localized in the cytoplasm and nucleus.
