Aliases NET3, netrin-3

Description

NTN3 encodes netrin 3, a member of the netrin family of secreted proteins that function as axon guidance cues during neural development. Netrin 3 binds to DCC and UNC5 receptors to mediate chemoattraction and chemorepulsion. It is also implicated in tumorigenesis and metastasis.

Protein Summary

Netrin 3 is a secreted protein of 580 amino acids (UniProt O00634) containing a laminin N-terminal domain and a netrin C-terminal domain. It functions as a bifunctional axon guidance cue, attracting or repelling growth cones via DCC and UNC5 receptors. Expression is primarily in neural tissues during development.
