Description
MMP10 (matrix metallopeptidase 10) encodes a member of the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family, specifically stromelysin-2. This secreted endopeptidase degrades various extracellular matrix components, including fibronectin, laminin, and proteoglycans. It also activates other MMPs, such as pro-MMP1 and pro-MMP8, playing a critical role in tissue remodeling, wound healing, and inflammation. Dysregulation of MMP10 is implicated in cancer progression, arthritis, and cardiovascular diseases.
Disease Associations

Protein Summary
MMP10 (stromelysin-2) is a 54 kDa secreted protein that degrades fibronectin, laminin, and proteoglycans. It is synthesized as a zymogen and activated by proteolytic cleavage. The protein contains a signal peptide, a prodomain, a catalytic domain with a zinc-binding site, and a hemopexin-like domain. It is involved in ECM remodeling, wound healing, and inflammation.
