Description

METTL2B encodes a methyltransferase-like protein that catalyzes the N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification of RNA, specifically targeting tRNAs and other non-coding RNAs. This modification plays a role in RNA stability, splicing, and translation. The gene is ubiquitously expressed with highest levels in testis and brain.

Protein Summary

METTL2B is a 442-amino acid protein containing a methyltransferase domain. It localizes to the nucleus and cytoplasm and is involved in post-transcriptional RNA modification. The protein is part of the METTL family that mediates m6A methylation, a key epitranscriptomic mark.
