Description

MAGEB10 is a member of the melanoma-associated antigen (MAGE) family, specifically the MAGE-B subfamily. It is a cancer-testis antigen (CTA) with predominant expression in testis and aberrant activation in various cancers. The protein contains a conserved MAGE homology domain (MHD) and is involved in protein-protein interactions, potentially modulating cell cycle and apoptosis. MAGEB10 is located on chromosome Xp21.3 and is subject to X-chromosome inactivation escape in some contexts.

Protein Summary

MAGEB10 is a 429-amino acid protein with a molecular weight of approximately 48 kDa. It contains a conserved MAGE homology domain (MHD) spanning residues 120–300. The protein localizes to both cytoplasm and nucleus. As a cancer-testis antigen, its expression is normally restricted to testicular germ cells but is reactivated in various cancers, making it a potential target for cancer immunotherapy. The exact biological function remains under investigation, but it is thought to modulate protein-protein interactions involved in cell cycle regulation and apoptosis.
