Description
MAGEA10 (MAGE family member A10) is a protein-coding gene belonging to the melanoma-associated antigen (MAGE) family. It is a cancer/testis antigen (CTA) with expression normally restricted to testis germ cells but frequently re-expressed in various cancers, including melanoma, lung, and bladder carcinomas. The encoded protein is involved in protein ubiquitination and may modulate cell cycle regulation and apoptosis.
Disease Associations
| Disease category | Pathophysiological mechanism | Genomic evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Melanoma | Re-expression of MAGEA10 in melanoma cells contributes to immune evasion and tumor progression. | NCBI Gene, COSMIC |
| Non-small cell lung cancer | MAGEA10 is aberrantly expressed and associated with poor prognosis. | NCBI Gene, COSMIC |
| Bladder carcinoma | Overexpression observed in bladder tumors; potential target for immunotherapy. | NCBI Gene, COSMIC |

Protein Summary
MAGEA10 encodes a 369-amino acid protein belonging to the MAGE family. It contains a conserved MAGE homology domain (MHD) and is localized to the cytoplasm and nucleus. The protein interacts with E3 ubiquitin ligases, potentially regulating protein degradation and influencing cell cycle and apoptosis. As a cancer/testis antigen, it is a target for cancer immunotherapy.
