Description
LYVE1 encodes a type I integral membrane glycoprotein that functions as a receptor for hyaluronan (HA), a major component of the extracellular matrix. It is specifically expressed on lymphatic endothelial cells and is involved in hyaluronan transport and metabolism, as well as in lymphatic cell migration and tumor metastasis. LYVE1 is widely used as a marker for lymphatic vessels in research and pathology.

Protein Summary
LYVE1 is a 322-amino acid transmembrane protein with a single extracellular domain that binds hyaluronan. It is highly glycosylated and forms disulfide-linked homodimers on the cell surface. The protein is specifically expressed on lymphatic endothelial cells and is involved in the internalization and degradation of hyaluronan, as well as in mediating cell adhesion and migration. LYVE1 is a key marker for lymphatic vessels and is used in studies of lymphangiogenesis, tumor metastasis, and inflammatory diseases.
