Description

LMAN2L (Lectin, Mannose Binding 2 Like) encodes a type I transmembrane protein localized to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and ER-Golgi intermediate compartment. It functions as a lectin that binds high-mannose glycans and facilitates the transport of glycoproteins from the ER to the Golgi apparatus. LMAN2L is homologous to LMAN1 and VIP36, and plays a role in quality control and trafficking of N-linked glycoproteins.

Protein Summary

LMAN2L is a 356-amino acid type I transmembrane lectin with a luminal carbohydrate recognition domain (CRD) that binds high-mannose oligosaccharides. It cycles between the ER and ER-Golgi intermediate compartment, assisting in the sorting and transport of glycoproteins. The protein is ubiquitously expressed with highest levels in liver and kidney.
