Description
LAT2 (Linker for Activation of T Cells Family Member 2) encodes a transmembrane adaptor protein that is expressed in B cells, mast cells, and natural killer cells. It functions as a negative regulator of immune receptor signaling by competing with LAT for binding to signaling molecules such as GRB2 and PLCG1. LAT2 is involved in the regulation of calcium mobilization and MAP kinase activation.

Protein Summary
LAT2 is a 243-amino acid transmembrane adaptor protein with a short extracellular domain and a long cytoplasmic tail containing multiple tyrosine phosphorylation sites. It is palmitoylated and localizes to lipid rafts. Upon receptor activation, LAT2 is phosphorylated by Src family kinases and recruits SH2 domain-containing proteins, modulating immune signaling.
