KRT7 (Keratin 7) is a protein-coding gene that encodes a type II cytokeratin. Keratin 7 is a member of the intermediate filament family and is specifically expressed in simple epithelia, including lung, breast, ovary, and gastrointestinal tract. It forms heteropolymers with type I keratins (e.g., KRT19, KRT18) to provide structural integrity to epithelial cells.
