Description

IL22RA1 encodes a subunit of the interleukin 22 receptor complex. This protein forms a heterodimer with IL10RB to mediate IL-22 signaling, which is involved in tissue protection, regeneration, and antimicrobial defense at epithelial barriers. IL22RA1 is primarily expressed on epithelial cells of the skin, digestive tract, and respiratory tract.

Protein Summary

IL22RA1 is a 574-amino acid transmembrane glycoprotein that serves as the specific ligand-binding subunit of the IL-22 receptor. It associates with IL10RB to form a functional receptor complex. Upon IL-22 binding, it activates JAK1 and TYK2, leading to STAT3 phosphorylation and downstream transcriptional responses involved in epithelial homeostasis and antimicrobial defense.
