Description
IL17F encodes interleukin 17F (IL-17F), a pro-inflammatory cytokine secreted by activated T cells, particularly Th17 cells. IL-17F signals through a receptor complex composed of IL-17RA and IL-17RC, inducing the production of other cytokines, chemokines, and antimicrobial peptides. It plays a critical role in host defense against extracellular bacteria and fungi and is implicated in the pathogenesis of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.

Protein Summary
IL-17F is a 163-amino acid cytokine that forms homodimers and heterodimers with IL-17A. It binds to the IL-17RA/IL-17RC receptor complex, activating NF-κB and MAPK pathways to induce pro-inflammatory gene expression.
