Description

IFNA13 encodes a member of the type I interferon family, interferon alpha 13. This cytokine is produced primarily in response to viral infections and exhibits antiviral, antiproliferative, and immunomodulatory activities. It binds to the interferon alpha/beta receptor (IFNAR) to activate JAK-STAT signaling, leading to expression of interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs).

Protein Summary

Interferon alpha 13 is a 189-amino acid secreted cytokine with a signal peptide (residues 1-23) and a mature protein (24-189). It contains five alpha helices and two disulfide bonds (Cys1-Cys98, Cys29-Cys138) essential for structural stability and receptor binding.
