Description

The FST gene encodes follistatin, a secreted glycoprotein that binds to and neutralizes activin, a member of the TGF-beta superfamily. Follistatin regulates cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis, and plays critical roles in development, reproduction, and muscle growth.
