Description
FOSL2 (FOS Like 2) encodes a leucine zipper protein that dimerizes with JUN proteins to form the transcription factor complex AP-1. This complex regulates gene expression in response to a variety of stimuli, including growth factors, cytokines, and stress signals. FOSL2 is involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, and transformation, and its dysregulation is implicated in several cancers and inflammatory diseases.

Protein Summary
FOSL2 (FRA-2) is a 326-amino acid protein containing a basic leucine zipper (bZIP) domain. It heterodimerizes with JUN proteins to form the AP-1 complex, which binds to TRE (TPA response element) sequences in DNA. FOSL2 is involved in regulating cell cycle, apoptosis, and differentiation. Its expression is induced by growth factors and stress signals, and it plays a role in bone development, immune response, and cancer progression.
