Description
FGR is a proto-oncogene encoding a member of the Src family of non-receptor tyrosine kinases. The protein is involved in signal transduction pathways regulating cell proliferation, differentiation, adhesion, and migration. It is primarily expressed in hematopoietic cells, particularly monocytes and macrophages, and plays a role in immune response. Aberrant expression or mutations have been implicated in various cancers and inflammatory conditions.

Protein Summary
The FGR protein (UniProt P09769) is a 529-amino acid non-receptor tyrosine kinase with SH3, SH2, and tyrosine kinase domains. It localizes to the plasma membrane and cytoplasm, and is activated by various extracellular signals. FGR phosphorylates downstream targets involved in cytoskeletal rearrangement, cell adhesion, and immune receptor signaling. Its kinase activity is regulated by phosphorylation at Tyr-412 (activating) and Tyr-523 (inhibitory).
