Description

ETNK2 (ethanolamine kinase 2) encodes a member of the ethanolamine kinase family that catalyzes the phosphorylation of ethanolamine to phosphoethanolamine, the first step in the CDP-ethanolamine pathway for phosphatidylethanolamine biosynthesis. This enzyme is involved in phospholipid metabolism and membrane biogenesis. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
