Description
ERP44 (Endoplasmic Reticulum Protein 44) encodes a member of the thioredoxin family of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) proteins. The protein acts as a chaperone and oxidoreductase, playing a key role in protein folding, quality control, and redox homeostasis within the ER. It interacts with ERO1A and other ER oxidoreductases to regulate disulfide bond formation and prevent ER stress.
Disease Associations

Protein Summary
ERP44 is a 44 kDa endoplasmic reticulum-resident protein belonging to the thioredoxin superfamily. It contains a thioredoxin-like domain and a C-terminal ER retention signal (KDEL). ERP44 functions as a chaperone and oxidoreductase, facilitating proper protein folding and disulfide bond formation. It interacts with ERO1A to regulate oxidative protein folding and prevent accumulation of misfolded proteins. ERP44 is ubiquitously expressed with higher levels in secretory tissues such as liver and kidney.
