Description

EIF4G2 (eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4 gamma 2) encodes a component of the eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4F (eIF4F) complex. Unlike the canonical eIF4G1, EIF4G2 lacks the poly(A)-binding protein (PABP) binding site and is involved in cap-independent translation initiation, particularly under stress conditions such as apoptosis and viral infection.
