Description
DUSP13A encodes a member of the dual specificity protein phosphatase subfamily, which dephosphorylates both phosphoserine/threonine and phosphotyrosine residues. This phosphatase is testis-specific and negatively regulates MAP kinase signaling, particularly JNK and p38 pathways. Alternative splicing generates multiple transcript variants.

Protein Summary
DUSP13A is a 198-amino acid dual specificity phosphatase with a conserved catalytic domain. It specifically dephosphorylates and inactivates MAP kinases JNK and p38, but not ERK. The protein is predominantly expressed in testis and plays a role in spermatogenesis. Its activity is regulated by substrate binding and subcellular localization.
