Description

DPP9 (Dipeptidyl peptidase 9) is a protein-coding gene that encodes a serine protease belonging to the dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPPIV) family. The enzyme cleaves N-terminal dipeptides from peptides with proline or alanine in the penultimate position. DPP9 is involved in immune regulation, cell adhesion, and apoptosis. It is ubiquitously expressed with high levels in immune tissues and has been implicated in cancer progression and inflammatory diseases.

Protein Summary

DPP9 is a 863-amino-acid serine protease that localizes to the cytoplasm and plasma membrane. It functions as a homodimer and cleaves N-terminal dipeptides from substrates such as chemokines and neuropeptides. The protein plays a role in immune regulation by modulating T-cell activity and cytokine processing. DPP9 is overexpressed in several cancers and is considered a potential therapeutic target.
