Description

DCAKD (Dephospho-CoA Kinase Domain Containing) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17q21.2. The encoded protein contains a dephospho-CoA kinase domain, which is predicted to catalyze the ATP-dependent phosphorylation of dephospho-CoA to form coenzyme A (CoA), a critical cofactor in numerous metabolic pathways. The gene is broadly expressed in human tissues, with highest levels in the liver and kidney. DCAKD is also known as FLJ10330 and MGC138499.

Protein Summary

The DCAKD protein (UniProt Q8N5K1) is a 364-amino acid polypeptide with a predicted molecular mass of approximately 41 kDa. It contains a conserved dephospho-CoA kinase domain (Pfam PF01121) that is structurally related to the CoaE family of enzymes. The protein is predicted to localize to the cytoplasm and is involved in the final step of coenzyme A biosynthesis, converting dephospho-CoA to CoA using ATP. No crystal structure is currently available, and functional validation remains limited.
