Description
CYP2F1 encodes a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily of enzymes, which are heme-thiolate monooxygenases involved in the metabolism of xenobiotics and endogenous compounds. This protein is primarily expressed in the lung and metabolizes several pulmonary toxicants, including naphthalene and styrene. CYP2F1 is also involved in the bioactivation of certain procarcinogens.
