Description

CYGB encodes cytoglobin, a member of the globin family expressed in fibroblasts and smooth muscle cells. It is involved in oxygen transport, nitric oxide scavenging, and protection against oxidative stress. CYGB has been implicated in fibrosis, cancer progression, and neuroprotection. Its expression is induced under hypoxic conditions and regulated by HIF-1α.
