Description
CXCR1 encodes a G protein-coupled receptor for interleukin-8 (IL-8/CXCL8). It is primarily expressed on neutrophils and mediates chemotaxis, degranulation, and respiratory burst in response to infection and inflammation. The receptor also binds CXCL6 and plays roles in angiogenesis and tumor progression.

Protein Summary
CXCR1 is a 350-amino acid transmembrane protein belonging to the rhodopsin-like GPCR family. It contains seven transmembrane domains and an N-terminal extracellular region critical for IL-8 binding. Upon ligand activation, it couples to Gi proteins, activating PI3K, MAPK, and PLC pathways, leading to calcium mobilization, actin reorganization, and chemotaxis. CXCR1 is highly expressed on neutrophils and is essential for acute inflammatory responses.
