Description
CELA2B encodes a member of the chymotrypsin-like elastase family of serine proteases. This enzyme is secreted by the pancreas and participates in the digestion of dietary proteins. It is synthesized as an inactive zymogen and activated by trypsin cleavage. The gene is located on chromosome 1p36.21 and is closely related to CELA2A.
