Description
CDK11B encodes a member of the serine/threonine protein kinase family that is closely related to the cell division cycle 2 (CDC2)/cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK) subfamily. The protein is involved in cell cycle regulation, transcription, and RNA processing. Alternative splicing generates multiple transcript variants, including a large isoform (p110) and a smaller isoform (p58) that is expressed during G2/M phase. CDK11B is located on chromosome 1p36.33, a region frequently altered in cancer.

Protein Summary
CDK11B is a serine/threonine kinase that regulates cell cycle progression, particularly at the G2/M transition, and participates in transcription and RNA processing. The protein contains a kinase domain and localizes to the nucleus. It interacts with cyclin L and other CDK-associated proteins. Alternative splicing produces isoforms with distinct functions.
