Description
BIK (BCL2 Interacting Killer) is a pro-apoptotic BH3-only protein that promotes cell death by binding to and neutralizing anti-apoptotic BCL2 family members. It is involved in the intrinsic apoptosis pathway and is frequently silenced in various cancers via DNA methylation or deletion.
