Description

ARHGDIG encodes Rho GDP dissociation inhibitor gamma (RhoGDI3), a member of the RhoGDI family that regulates Rho GTPase signaling by inhibiting GDP dissociation and controlling subcellular localization. RhoGDI3 is predominantly expressed in brain and pancreas and plays roles in cytoskeletal dynamics, cell migration, and vesicular trafficking. Altered expression is linked to cancer progression and neurological disorders.

Protein Summary

Rho GDP dissociation inhibitor gamma (RhoGDI3) is a 225-amino acid protein that binds prenylated Rho GTPases, inhibiting GDP release and sequestering them in the cytosol. It is highly expressed in brain and pancreas, where it modulates actin dynamics and intracellular trafficking. Structural studies show a conserved N-terminal regulatory domain and a C-terminal immunoglobulin-like domain.
