Description

ABHD4 (abhydrolase domain containing 4) encodes a lysophospholipase that catalyzes the hydrolysis of lysophosphatidylcholine and other lysophospholipids. It is also involved in the biosynthesis of N-acylethanolamines (NAEs), including the endocannabinoid anandamide, by converting N-acylphosphatidylethanolamine (NAPE) to N-acylethanolamine. The enzyme is expressed in multiple tissues and has been implicated in lipid metabolism, neurological function, and cancer.
