What is Pain & Sensory Biology ?
Pain is mediated by specialized primary sensory neurons (nociceptors) that detect noxious stimuli. Ion channels (e.g., TRPV1, NaV1.7) and GPCRs transduce and modulate pain signals. Persistent pain involves peripheral and central sensitization. Genetic validation of pain targets using CRISPR supports development of non-opioid analgesics.
